Last week in the meditation classes, we meditated on LOVE. We do this theme from time to time as it is a much needed and huge topic. Last week, we took it to the next level and explored ‘receiving love’ and what I call the forgotten part of love.

Love is all there is…

As healers, carers, warm souls and light-workers of the world you give out a lot. You are often thinking of others and sending out love and positive vibes to those who are in need of it. Be they your own family, community or out into the world when you hear some distressing news.

Opening up our heart centre and giving out warm, nurturing love is something we have all started doing more and are getting quite gifted at. Of course you will always come across the more self-absorbed soul who isn’t on this journey yet. AND that is also ok – the world exists and functions with all.

You are also becoming better at self-love, dear soul. Loving yourself deeply and forgiving what you term your imperfections and I term as LIFE. I had given a soul-exercise in the last blog and this can help with self-love too: From my heart to yours

For me, the forgotten part of love is the ability to receive. So caught up we in giving that we forget that there has to be the ability to receive too. The world exists as a harmony of duality – yin and yang… male and female – and only giving and not receiving is not in harmony with the world’s energy.

To give we must also receive.

To give love, we must also receive love…

My meditation process… Take a few breaths, close your eyes and bring your focus on the centre of your chest – your heart centre. How does it feel to you? Does it feel constricted and tight? Does the heart feel loose and open? Acknowledge this as your starting point.

Your heart feels open… Breathe in that openness. Allow that open heart to receive in the love you need. Realise and celebrate that you can receive and allow it in – the love from people around you: loved ones, friends, family – the love of the world and nature… be open to it all.

Your heart feels tight… Acknowledge and realise that you are not receiving in as much as your soul would like. The simple realisation of this may be your AHA moment. Look at parts of your life where you are not receiving the love which is there in abundance for you. You can see it, but you cannot feel it yet.

  1. Make an intention with yourself to open up the heart centre more.
  2. Do the mirror soul exercise in the last blog: From my heart to yours
  3. Each day focus on the heart centre and bring in an affirmation of receiving love: ‘Today, I receive love freely and easily.’

Step by step, day by day, notice your progress. I do individual meditation classes too, so if you are feeling you need some extra help with this, please do get in touch. We can spend an hour together connecting you with your heart and starting you on this journey.

If you are already there with your journey of love – what technique do you use? I love learning and hearing of what works for others so please do share.
